"WE MADE IT" One Year Anniversary FUNDRAISER: May 15th!!

Get ready! The ONE year anniversary party is coming...with free events in the morning to bring Muay Thai to all, and a some great demonstrations and activities in the evening for all of our friends and family!

We began in a ballet studio in the Tait Mackenzie building at York University over 5 years ago. We slowly built each other and formed into a school. The past year has been amazing and we want to thank everyone for helping.

This event is a Fundraiser to send the YMT Fighters to Des Moines, Iowa. Last year we brought home 3 belts, this year we intend on bringing home more!

30 Hour Famine THIS FRIDAY APRIL 8

This Friday at 5:00pm - Saturday at 11:00pm, YMT does the 30 Hour famine (famine.ca)!

Classes are cancelled during those times, but the gym will be open as the fighters will need to train. Please donate to a participant of the famine if you are not one of them!

You are welcome to stop by and visit, but do not eat in front of the participants...or they will attack you. :)

A fundraiser that brings York Muay Thai students together to fight for survival, health and freedom of children in developing countries

On Friday April 8th we will come together for 30 hours, be hungry and participate in fun activities.

But for now, go out and collect donations

Funds will go towards programs that:
-Feed starving children
-Save exploited and trafficked girls
-Build schools and classrooms
-Bring safe drinking water to communities

Come on out Yellow's and Blue's and get your run on. Summer is coming and group run's are a great way to push yourself and work with your team!

West Seneca Fight Results

Sawadeekha Team YMT,

Update from West Seneca:
First up was VMT vs Redemption MT
Alex (VMT) lost by decision but showed great heart and pushed through a tough fight. I look forward to seeing him fight again.

YMT vs Victory MMA
Mike Zhang had an aggressive opponent who seemed to have more of a Boxing or MMA background. With 5 seconds left in the first round Mike accidentally kneed his opponent in the face cause a decent sized cut over the left eye. The fight was stopped and ruled a disqualification due to an illegal knee.

Prior to the knee Mike looked, relaxed, composed and in control. I look forward to seeing his next fight as well.

Chok Dee Zhang and Victory Muay Thai!

Representing York Muay Thai, Zhang is scheduled to fight tomorrow (Sat March 12/11) in West Seneca NY.
Also competing are Alex Falconer Bobbleopoulos, and Poo Chois Jon La and Andrew Poon from our family at Victory Muay Thai

Instructor Development Seminar, March 20!

From 10pm to 1pm on March 20th, YMT will be hosting its first instructor seminar.

All levels of students are welcome!

This will be hosted by the senior instructors, and will provide the building blocks for aspiring instructors.

This is NOT certification to become an instructor, but it is mandatory for anyone who has interest in one day teaching at the school.

March 19th: National Muay Thai/ Nai Khanomtom/ Kru Day

Siam is hosting Nai Khanomtom day, which we're calling Kru day this year. It's an annual celebration of Muay Thai (http://www.antaraiwear.com/art_nai.html) and a day to show respect to one's teacher's in the art.

All affiliate schools will be coming together to do team demonstrations. This means WE will be doing a demonstration. We invite ALL our students, no matter how new or old to join in. Senior students should be there!!

This is a great chance to celebrate this day together with the entire community, and we can use every one. Support your team :)

"Ajahn Suchart and Siam no.1 invite you and your school to celebrate this traditional event for “Father’s of Muay Thai Day

If you do not belong to a school we welcome you to join in the festivities and celebrate the traditional spirit of Muay Thai with Master Suchart. Master Suchart would love to see old and new friends.

This is an event for each school to show case their school in appreciation for their KRU - it is KRU day - to celebrate the leaders of Muay Thai and Ajahn would like to recognize this. The plan is for 4-6 school members to present something such as team Ram Muay, Team Work Out, Teach Technique, Team shadow box and Team Krabi Krabong. Ajahn will feature Muay Boran Kata for this event. Each presentation should be about 5 - 8 minutes long.

$25/pp and will include Thai food.

5 pm -- We will start the event with a ceremony and the teams performing

Schools which support Traditional Muay Thai and Ajahn’s continued selfless teachings are required to be there for the presentations - this is the heart of the event."

Fights in Rochester NY Cancelled this Weekend

Unfortunately, once we were about 20 mins from the venue, we received notification that the entire Border Brawl 3 fight card in Rochester was cancelled. Our fighters Patrick, Durst and Zhang did not get to compete last night.

Needless to say, the fighters were not happy, but they stayed the night with some of the team to make the best of the trip anyway.

This Weekend!

Lots going on!

Saturday:
The team goes to Rochester NY for some Muay Thai fights...Durst, Patrick and Zhangalangadingdong will be representing us in the evening's bouts.

As such- Fighter's class is CANCELLED on Saturday. Kids and mixed classes are still on.



Sunday:
Yoga will STILL be happening
but sparring is CANCELLED as most of the team will still be in NY.

Monday:
We are closed for Family Day...however, if I'm in to train I will try to let everyone know, and you can come work in with me :)...you just have to go home when I go home haha
