| Ricky Gervais & Elmo Hit Carnegie Hall Posted: 06 Nov 2009 08:20 PM PST  Ricky Gervais was joined onstage at New York’s Carnegie Hall by a special guest - Sesame Street’s Elmo! As part of the New York Comedy Festival, Ricky, 48, performed his first set at world-renowned Carnegie Hall on Thursday (November 5). The British comic gave his only U.S. performance this year to a sold-out crowd. After his set was over, Ricky returned to the stage for a surprise encore, asking the crowd, “what’s black and white and red all over?” and announcing his surprise guest, Elmo! The tuxedo clad two sang “New York, New York” together. Ricky and Elmo met on Sesame Street last year - check out the video here! |

Freida and Dev came out to support their Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle in the VIP area, which was sponsored by Beefeater 24 Boyle received the Britannia Award for Artistic Excellence in Directing. Dev, 19, was nominated for a BAFTA last year for his work on Slumdog. | Reeve Carney is Broadway’s Spider-Man Posted: 06 Nov 2009 03:14 PM PST  Reeve Carney has been selected to play the superhero Spider-Man in the the new Broadway musical, Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark. U2's Bono and The Edge will be bringing the music and lyric to the mega-production, which will be directed by Julie Taymor. A press release sent out on Friday reads, “After an exhaustive search that included a casting call tour spanning six cities and thousands of candidates, the producers and creative team have selected Reeve Carney to play the role of Peter Parker, The Amazing Spider-Man. Carney joins previously announced cast members Evan Rachel Wood as Mary Jane Watson, Peter Parker's girlfriend and Alan Cumming as Norman Osborn (aka Green Goblin).” Mr. Carney is the lead singer of the rock band Carney. He also starred in 1999’s Snow Falling on Cedars portraying a young Ethan Hawke and plays Ferdinand in the upcoming Julie Taymor movie The Tempest. Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark will open at the Hilton Theater next year. |
