The Fresh Express Classic at TPC Stonebrae is a golf tournament on the Nationwide Tour. It was first played in 2009 at the TPC Stonebrae, formerly Stonebrae Country Club, in Hayward, California.
The 2011 Fresh Express Classic occurs April 12-17th at the picturesque TPC Stonebrae. The Fresh Express Classic is not just another Professional golf tournament, it's an East Bay community event operated by the PGA TOUR and more than 500 enthusiastic volunteers.
In 2011, the tournament has a goal to generate more than $250,000 for Bay Area charities and non-profit organizations. The Fresh Express Classic has a commitment to donate 100% of the tournament net proceeds back to local non-profit organizations including Tournament Host and Pro Football Hall of Fame Member Jerry Rice's own 127 Foundation.
The inaugural event had a prize fund of $600,000 with $108,000 going to the winner, Australian Michael Sim who shot a final round 64 to triumph by 6 strokes.The 2010 event had the same purse and American Kevin Chappell won his first Nationwide Tour event.
The Fresh Express Classic at TPC Stonebrae happens at The Player's Club Stonebrae in Hayward, California. The purse for this tournament is $600,000 and it has a great field, taking place from April 14th through the 17th. The winner of this tournament in 2010 was Kevin Chappell, and he walked away with $108,000 in prize money, the same amount that is up for grabs this year when he comes back to defend. David Hearn was in second down by one stroke and then Jon Mills took third, Doug LaBelle fourth and Justin Hicks Fifth Place.
